This simple, tasty cabbage and pea curry recipe works well with any type of cabbage. The only fresh ingredients needed are onion and cabbage. A one-pot dish, this cooks quickly too!

- Oil 1 tbsp
- Cumin seeds ½ tsp
- Black mustard seeds ½ tsp
- Fresh ginger thumb-sized, finely chopped or grated
- Garlic cloves 2, crushed
- Onion 1 large, chopped
- Tin tomatoes 1
- Turmeric ¼ tsp
- Chilli powder ½ tsp
- Garam masala 1 tsp
- Frozen peas, as much as you want
- Cabbage ½ large or 1 small, washed and shredded/chopped
- Salt and black pepper
- Coriander leaves (optional)
Method
Step 1
Heat the oil in a large frying or sauté pan. When it is hot, fry the black mustard seeds and cumin seeds until they start to sizzle. Add ginger and garlic, frying briefly until aromatic.
Step 2
Add the sliced onions and fry until transparent and softened.
Step 3
Add the tin of tomatoes and turmeric, cook for about 5 minutes.
Step 4
Add the chilli powder, garam masala and frozen peas, frying for another minute. Then add the drained, chopped cabbage. Stir well to coat the cabbage with the tomato mixture.
Step 5
Fry on a high heat, stirring frequently until the cabbage is cooked to your liking. If it starts to stick or burn, add a splash of water.
Step 6
